About the authors:

The Reverend Canon John Young is a Canon Emeritus of York Minster and has written over twenty books/booklets. His work is in several languages, including Chinese and Russian.

The Reverend Dr David Wilkinson was appointed Principal of St John's College, Durham in 2006. He is a Methodist Minister with two Ph.Ds - in theoretical physics and in theology.

About the book:

This book is aimed at two different, but related, audiences. First, it is designed for those who do not yet believe but who wish to understand Christianity more fully before they either dismiss or embrace it. It is also designed for church members who feel uncertain about the many facts which undergird their faith.

This paperback develops an argument, but has an engaging modesty in acknowledging that there are no 'knockdown' arguments for the existence of God. At the same time, it makes the point that atheism is also an act of faith with - in the opinion of the authors - much shakier foundations. The book pre-supposes no previous knowledge of the Christian faith. It deals with deep issues in an accessible way yet is written with a light touch, which includes Take A Break pages, scattered throughout the book (truly appalling jokes!).

A book written for this audience has never been more urgently needed, as Christian belief is assaulted from so many angles.

The book has 25 chapters, and is divided into 6 Parts:
1 Questions: Mainly about the Church and Society
2 Questions about Science and Faith
3 Questions about the Bible
4 Questions about Suffering
5 Questions about Jesus
6 Prove it! Does God exist?
